In the high desert the light of winter has a pearly quality, a cool palette of sunstained cloud mist breathing across mountain crags. Frost glimmers on dried chamisa and cactus spines. The monochromatic landscape is subdued and calming to the soul, a restful balm after a too-long and too-hot summer. This necklace embodies that gentle peace and grace.
A single, polished deer antler tip, naturally-shed, anchors the beaded strand. Above it is a handmade bead of ancient walrus ivory from Alaska and an ancient shell bead from Central Asia. The strand holds a wide variety of baroque pearls in soft ecru and off white. Scattered among them are tiny beads of ancient Asian shell and tumbled nuggets of Australian white opal. The opal isn’t colored with fire (it’s winter) but instead has a soft glow all its own. Between each bead is a tiny spacer of faceted mother of pearl, and the antler hangs from a mother of pearl loop. The beads are strung on silk and have a lovely drape.

SIZE: 21” from the back of your neck to the end of the antler pendant, which is 2 1/4” long.
CARE: Do not immerse in water as it will cause the antler to split. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth to clean.
