:: New Light ::
This quartz is just phenomenal: crystal clear and flashing with light! It’s a slice cut from the surface of a natural crystal and has no polishing on the top, just an intricate terrain of angles that flashes with light. There are a few motes of dark green chlorite, invisible unless you look very closely, which add a healing vibration to the beautiful energy of this stone. It comes from the lapidary of Gary Wilson.
I set it in a backless bezel so the vibration of the quartz can reach you. It’s a very wabi-sabi kind of setting, typical for my metalwork where I let scratches, hammer marks, seams and solder runs show to suggest natural process. (By the way, I noticed while I was editing the photos that I’d not completely pushed the bezel down on the left side! I guess I was too transfixed by the stone…but it was quickly remedied and the bezel on the left now forms a straight line.)
Two bronze pendants hang below the quartz which were impressed with ancient Southwestern corrugated style potsherds; the ring on the chain above was also made in the same way. They were kiln fired and finished by hand.
The chain and links are all sterling silver wire which was hammered on desert rock. Some have nail head terminations, some are wrapped with finer wire, some are soldered links. When I make these chains I go up one link at a time without a preset design. Each one is totally unique. It’s been oxidized and finished by hand to a soft glow.
For desert spirits and fearless souls…
SIZE: The neck chain is 17” long. The crystal and bronze pendant assemblage is 6 1/2” x 1 1/2”.
CARE: Rinse in cool water to clean and gently blot dry. Soap is OK. Blot dry with a towel. To polish, I recommend steel wool to preserve the satiny shine. Or you can use a silver polishing cloth for a brighter finish.
