The desert is home to my soul. The expansive distance, the stillness, the incisive clarity of the light all nourish me on a spiritual level. That’s where my work comes from.
I want the pieces to look like something that formed naturally in the landscape. I use impressions of stone and plants in metal clay, make molds onsite for elements in silver and bronze. I use natural materials like linen, bone, earth pigments — anything that says desert. Ancient beads and artifacts, fossils. Things that evoke deep time.
My talismans are for staying connected to the tranquility of those empty places when immersed in the human world.
